Established in the mid-1990s, Oserengoni Wildlife Sanctuary provides a vital safe haven for wildlife in its 18,000-acre expanse. Surrounded by an electrified fence, the sanctuary protects resident animals from outside threats while preventing them from straying onto neighboring farmlands.
Wildlife corridors link the sanctuary with the neighboring Hell's Gate National Park and the lakeshore. These corridors facilitate free movement of animals throughout the ecosystem, promoting biodiversity and overall ecological balance. Since the sanctuary and wildlife corridors were created, populations of species like leopards and giraffes, once in decline, have rebounded to healthy levels
Oserengoni Wildlife Sanctuary maintains a healthy population of predators such as Lion, leopards, hyenas, jackals to name a few. To ensure a balanced ecosystem, we are committed to enhancing the sanctuary's fence with predator-proofing measures. These efforts will facilitate natural population control of herbivores.
We are proud to host six of Africa's Secret Seven: the Serval, Aardvark, Genet, African Wildcat, Civet, and Porcupine. We also feature both the Ugly Five and the Little Five.

Conservation is only possible because of the infrastructure and dedicated teams we have in place.
Every day, we work tirelessly to maintain roads for security patrols, water holes, dams, and everything
else that needs repairing. We uphold more than 48 kilometers of protective fencing to safeguard the
ecosystem, and our anti‑poaching units remain vigilant to protect wildlife.
Our extensive ranger force, supported by multiple ranger posts, ensures constant monitoring and rapid
response. Alongside them, the maintenance team works to keep everything functioning. Without this
collective effort, conserving this beautiful place would not be possible. It is their commitment that allows
us to protect biodiversity and offer guests an authentic, high‑end experience rooted in sustainability.

OUR CLIMATE
O.W.S is situated in the Great Rift Valley, nestled between the Mau and Aberda escarpments. We are located near the of Lake Naivasha and Lake Oloidien.
Our annual rainfall averages around 700mm, but it varies across the property, with some areas receiving less than 500mm and others exceeding 1000mm. The impacts of drought, La Niña, and El Niño can significantly influence these fluctuations, affecting both water availability and ecosystem health.
Naivasha enjoys a pleasant climate due to its proximity to the equator, with average temperatures ranging between 10°C (50°F) and 29°C (85).
Naivasha is a drier region, with levels averaging around 50% for most of the year, increasing by approximately 10 to 15% during the rainy season.
The altitude in the Oserengoni Wildlife Sanctuary ranges from low of 1,894 meters (6,214 feet) to a high of 2,731 meters (8,957 feet). This varying altitude contributes to a fascinating ecological diversity, making the flora and fauna truly interesting to witness.
